Integrating Traditional Ayurveda Gurukula Pedagogy with National Regulatory Standards
The Ayurveda Gurukulam is a residential Gurukula model of Ayurveda education introduced under the regulatory framework of the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM). It provides a structured seven-and-a-half-year educational pathway comprising the two-year Pre-Ayurveda Programme followed by the Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) degree.
Rooted in the traditional Guru–Siṣya Parampara, the Ayurveda Gurukulam integrates disciplined residential learning with the prescribed academic standards of contemporary Ayurveda education. The programme is designed to strengthen foundational knowledge through the Pre-Ayurveda stage and subsequently enable students to pursue the BAMS degree in accordance with NCISM norms.
The Central Sanskrit University, New Delhi, as the affiliating University for Ayurveda Gurukulams, facilitates affiliation, academic oversight and implementation of the programme through this dedicated portal.
